About

Builder, operator, writer.

I'm Joey, a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at OncoLens and a Georgia Tech computer engineer who has spent more than a decade keeping production systems up, from bare-metal closets to global Linux fleets to Kubernetes.

My career has run on two tracks at once. At Haste I managed hundreds of Linux servers across dozens of hosting providers on a custom overlay network, built the Ansible, CI/CD, and monitoring around them, and cut infrastructure cost by 75%. At the same time I've been the entire IT department for Benamy International, a 40-person company: server consolidation, an Office 365 migration, Meraki networking, PCI audits, and the help desk.

That mix taught me the thing I write about most: the best infrastructure is the boring, well-paved road that makes the right way the easy way. I call it the golden path. These days I do that work at OncoLens, and I write it up at Golden Path DevOps.

I was also a founding member of Localhost, a free Slack community for IT, security, and DevOps folks who'd rather automate it than do it twice.
